“When ‘Project Spark’ transitioned away from active development last fall, many of our team members moved to other projects within Microsoft Studios. “This was an extremely difficult decision for our team that we do not take lightly,” community manager Thomas Gratz wrote on the game’s forums. The game’s closure follows the cancellation of all its premium DLC last year, including new episodes of Conker’s Big Reunion. Microsoft advises that players download their favourite levels prior to August 12 in order to be able to play them. Once the servers have closed, players will no longer be able to download other players’ levels or upload their own. The game has already been removed from the Xbox One Marketplace and Windows Store, with servers set to be taken offline from August 12. Microsoft is closing Project Spark, its free-to-play game-creation software.
